Jesus' Ministry to the Whole Person

When Jesus read from Isaiah 61:1-2 he was outlining the form of his ministry on earth to the whole person at all three levels of Spirit, Soul and Body. That is why his victory over Satan in the desert was so important. His subsequent ministry involved Salvation, Healing and Deliverance.

The Call to Repent & Believe the Good News

From the beginning of his ministry Jesus' emphasis on calling people to repent of their sins, to receive God's forgiveness and to be reconnected with God as Father through being filled with the Holy Spirit. This demonstrated the fact that God is in control, not Satan, as Isaiah had prophesied in Isaiah 52:7.

" After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:14-15)

Jesus' Ministry Demonstrated The Good News

The proclamation of the Good News of salvation was followed by the ministry Isaiah had said the Messiah would demonstrate  -  a ministry of Healing and Deliverance  - which would prove his victory over Satan. The three years that followed Jesus' Nazareth Manifesto demonstrated the fact he was the fulfilment of Isaiah's prophecy and formed the basis for teaching his disciples.
